Премьер-министр Японии Сигэру Исиба, глава Либерально-демократической партии (ЛДП) страны, решил уйти в отставку, поскольку он «не хочет раскола» внутри политической силы, сообщает вещательная корпорация NHK.
Ранее на этой неделе, 2 сентября, Исиба извинился перед членами партии за неудачные для нее результаты выборов в верхнюю палату парламента в июле, по итогам которых правящая коалиция, возглавляемая ЛДП, утратила большинство. За несколько месяцев до этого ЛДП и ее партнер по коалиции «Комэйто» потеряли большинство в нижней, более влиятельной палате представителей.
Премьер заявил, что как глава партии не может уклоняться от ответственности за результаты выборов и пообещал принять решение о дальнейших действиях «в подходящий момент». В тот же день о намерении уйти в отставку объявил генеральный секретарь ЛДП Хироси Морияма, близкий помощник Исибы.
8 сентября, как ожидалось, ЛДП должна принять решение о проведении внеочередных выборов лидера партии.
Исиба вступил в должность премьера в октябре прошлого года, он сменил Фумио Кисиду, который отказался от выдвижения своей кандидатуры из-за коррупционного скандала.
